Sierra Kelleher

Special Project and Communications Coordinator

Sierra is a coordinator for the International Cancer Expert Corps in their Washington, D.C. office. She began as a full-time intern for ICEC in the fall of 2022 as a third-year undergraduate student studying at the University of California, San Diego, pursuing a B.A. in Sociology with a concentration in Science and Medicine, and a minor in Healthcare and Social Issues. She continued to work as a part-time employee until her graduation in 2023, and is now happy to commit her full efforts to the nonprofit. Graduating with a 3.98 GPA in her major of interest, Sierra’s dedication to the fields of healthcare and the social sciences became an academic goal of hers in college after having prolonged exposure to the inequities in access and treatment to healthcare that communities faced in her Michigan hometown as well as abroad.

Prior to her time with ICEC, she worked for the University of Michigan’s Institute for Social Research in 2022, interning for the Life Course Development Program’s Future of Work study under the mentorship of Dr. Toni Antonucci. Sierra also spent her time in college volunteering for The Equity Alliance of San Diego County, a local non-profit organization, conducting resident surveys and working towards improving the county’s infrastructure, and with CALPIRG Students of UC San Diego as a logistical intern organizing virtual leadership summits. She is passionate about ICEC’s mission and vision and shares the organization’s core values working to improve sustainable and globalized cancer care.
