On October 23, ICEC Board Member Monique K. Mansoura and ICEC Executive Director Nina Wendling presented at the World Institute for Nuclear Security’s (WINS) inaugural roundtable, “Roundtable on Fostering the Collaboration Between Security and Radiotherapy-Focused Organizations.”
The roundtable brought together security-focused and radiation therapy/ cancer care organizations to assess the current status of radiological security and radiotherapy in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) and identify areas of collaboration that the two organizations could leverage to further mutual goals (supporting the secure use of radioactive sources while increasing access to linear accelerator-based Radiation Therapy (RT)) and ultimately identified several concrete and practical steps and plans to build on these ideas to pursue tangible actions.
