Rebecca K. S. Wong, MSc, MD, FRCPC

Dr. Rebecca Wong joined the ICEC Board of Directors in 2017. She brings with her a welcome expertise in building radiation oncology capacity through education and training programs in LMICs.

After graduating from Sheffield University and completing her radiation oncology residency at Queens University, Dr. Rebecca Wong joined the Department of Radiation at the University of Toronto, first with the Odette Cancer Center and since 2001 with the Princess Margaret. She holds an MSc in Clinical Epidemiology from McMaster University. Currently, she is a Professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Toronto and the Director of the Clinical Trials Program for Radiation Medicine at Princess Margaret.

Her clinical and research interests are aimed at improving the outcomes of patients with gastroesophageal cancer and patients living with metastatic cancer, including oligometastases. Her specific focus in this area examines the use of radiotherapy through clinical trials, knowledge synthesis and guidelines development.

Through her role as the Co-Chair for the Esophagogastric Disease Oriented Group and Chair of the Symptom Control Committee at the National Cancer Institute of the Canada Clinical Trials Group, she strives to help shape the Canadian research directions in these clinical areas. She is active in evidence-based guidelines development through her role as Co-Chair for the gastrointestinal disease site group in the Cancer Care Ontario Practice Guideline Initiative. She is also the author of over 100 peer reviewed publications and 8 book chapters.
