Eugenia (Nina) Wendling
Eugenia (Nina) Wendling has dedicated nearly 35 years to public service, the last fifteen years working within the cancer community. She has served as the Executive Director of the International Cancer Expert Corps (ICEC) since May 2015. In this role, Ms. Wendling provides oversight to achieve ICEC’s vision through strategic planning, organizational development, program implementation, and progress assessment.
As a senior leadership team member, Ms. Wendling serves as a liaison to ICEC’s global partners and works with the board of directors to implement ICEC’s programmatic strategies. Ms. Wendling directs outreach efforts developing and fostering relationships with academic medical institutions, professional societies, US government agencies, foreign government ministries of health and finance, individuals, foundations, and corporations to advance the mission of ICEC. Ms. Wendling oversees ICEC’s efforts regarding Project STELLA, a public-private partnership among ICEC, the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) in Geneva, and the UK Science Technology and Facilities Council and UK universities developing innovative healthcare technology.
Ms. Wendling joined ICEC building upon her previous work with the National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship (NCCS), 2006-2015, as NCCS’ Chief Operating Officer and interim Executive Director.
Ms. Wendling began her career of service in law enforcement as a special assignment officer specializing in financial fraud. After a successful career, she transitioned into management and strategic planning as a director at Education Access Strategies, Inc. Before EAS, she served as the director of development at the National Park Trust.
